December 2014 - Kato Bridge Replacement
Project
The Snow Shoe Township Supervisors have
advised the SSRT that the first phase of
the project was awarded to a contractor.
The contractor is responsible for tearing
down the bridge and repairing concrete pillars.
Phase two of the project to replace the
bridge will be placed out for bids after
phase one is completed.
The
Snow Shoe Township Supervisors have advised
the SSRTA that the contractor has completed
the Ford below the Kato Bridge as of September
20, 2013. Presently the water is 8 to 9
inches deep. Please see picture of Henry
Sorgen crossing creek with Razor. There
are 3 post installed in the creek to be
utilized to gauge the depth of water.
KATO
BRIDGE IS CLOSED AS OF MARCH 16, 2012
We have been notified by the Snow Shoe Township
supervisors that the Bridge at Kato will
be closed until further notice. The PA State
Inspector condemned the bridge and closed
it immediately to all traffic. Our Supervisors
are waiting for a report from the State
Inspector to determine repairs needed and
costs. We will be working with the Supervisors
to see if we can make an alternate, temporary
route.
We were notified by the Snow Shoe Township
Supervisors that it will take 30 days to
get a repair/replacement report from the
state inspectors so they can't put a plan
for either in place until after they receive
that report. However, efforts are being
made to make temporary alternate route.
We will let you know more as we find out.
