SSRTA ANNOUNCEMENTS

Bollards
The width between the bollards at the gates on the Snow Shoe Rails to Trails are 61 inches. So, be sure the units you are purchasing to utilize the trail are less than that. Two other things to consider is cab closure, rims, and tires. Be sure they do not extend past the 61 inches of your side by side unit or they will not get through.

DCNR regulations stated on signs at the Bloody Skillet Trail Connector are: 58 inch width.

Raffle will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Bestline Powersports Centre Hall location. A free meal will be provided as long as supplies last. Meal is usually ready at noon. ATTENTION SSRTA MEMBERS:

The Bloody Skillet Connector Trail will be open to legally ride on Friday, August 26, 2011. The trail is signed and follows the woodline on the small gas pipeline right-of-way that parallels the Kato-Orviston Road and the end of the Snow Shoe Township road just past the bigger Texas Eastern Pipeline 55. ATV riders are reminded that the Kato-Orviston Road that continues down into Orviston is a State Forest road NOT open to ATVs. ATV riders should follow the signed trail and no other areas along the Bloody Skillet Connector Trail corridor. There are still some areas of the connector that will need additional work and seismic testing activity is still in the area, so please use caution and common sense. Also, some sections are steep and may require 4-wheel drive capability due to loose rock and dirt as the result of recent dozing/grading which has not yet settled in. Remember-safety first! We hope you enjoy the additional legal riding and we want to thank DCNR for their efforts to help make this happen. (Added: 8/24/11).

Vice President of the SSRTA, Dick Rockey passed away Monday, September 6, 2010 at UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dick was fighting lung cancer for the past year. Prayers go out to his wife Sylvia and family.


On April 28, 2010 between the hours of 9:30 AM and 3:15 PM the Black Bear Trailhead sign was vandalized. The Snow Shoe Rails to Trails is offering a $500.00 reward to the person offering information to the prosecution and conviction of the person responsible for the vandalism.
