MEMBERS: BE ALERT!
VEHICULAR USAGE ON TRAIL
*********************************************************************
Received a message from Mike Brady that the gas well drilling company met with Headwaters Trust and agreed to the following:
•The gas company will start drilling during the week of 10/29/07.
•The gas company will remove the southern most gate at Tarman Crossing and place it down the trail approximately .7 tenths of a mile where it will stay permanently.
•The gas company will also place another gate on the old woods trail near Black Moshannon Creek to prevent people from driving up the trail along the creek. This gate is near the installation of the relocation gate.
•The drilling company will utilize the SSRTA to the drilling site until well is completed in this area.
•The drilling company will use old woods road along the creek to maintain well if successful.
According to the message from the drilling company. They plan to restore the trail to it's present condition using 2B Stone for surface once completed with drilling.
According to the message from the drilling company, they will not be using the SSRTA once completed.
I am sorry to say and I apogize for the quick decision and unsafe conditions this creates without having a plan in place for proper notification of membership. A plan should have been discussed and proper signage in place prior to any vehicular usage.

Trail Alert!
Attention SSRTA
Members:
If you abuse the trail or township roads such as
excessive speed or vandalism is observed then....
Your Membership May Be
Revoked!

Sign broken along the trail |
Please obey a 20 mph maximum speed limit and
follow the rules of the highway - NO Donuts, NO side to side
riding, NO littering, and maintain a common courtesy. There are
places off the trail and the township roads to play. Remember we
could easily lose the township connection if abuse is reported.
Our goal is to eventually be connected to the Bloody Skillet DCNR
Trail in Orviston. We must patrol within our ranks and not allow a
few to ruin it for all of us. The township supervisors can vote
the ordinance out as fast as they voted it in. If we lose the
right to ride on township roads, we have nobody to blame but
ourselves. |
The Snow Shoe Rails to Trails have contracted out for snow removal
through one of our corporate sponsors, Snow Shoe True Value. Dan
Hall will remove snow from the Gillentown Trailhead if the
accumulation is 4" or more of snow.

Please obey all signs along
the trail. They are for your safety as well as the safety of fellow
trail users.
